All teaching placements take place local to Warrington meaning less travelling and more teaching. Both placements, all your Enrichment experiences and any other bespoke placements that may interest you can be provided by TCAT.

SEND opportunities
During the course we offer the opportunity to work with students from a diverse range of abilities and social backgrounds. We have Designated Provisions in our Secondary Schools focusing on specific student needs and you can gain experience working within these specialised units.

Enrichment
All of our secondary schools run extensive Enrichment Programmes – such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award – which trainees can choose to become involved in. We have an expanding STEM pathways and a renowned Performing Arts programme, again offering trainees valuable experience.

Bright Futures
TCAT works in partnership with Bright Futures SCITT, who accredit the QTS element of our Teacher Training programme.

Qualified Teacher Status
Our programme leads to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) which you must have to be able to teach in schools and the award of Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Masters’ level which is delivered by the University of Manchester.

Supporting your development
You will be allocated a dedicated Curriculum Mentor who will support and mentor you during your training year. They will model exemplary practice in planning, teaching and assessment. Subject knowledge days will stretch, challenge and develop your subject knowledge. This will also give you the opportunity to meet expert practitioners from other schools.

Key Stage 5 experience
For our secondary students, TCAT will provide opportunity to observe A-Level courses and Level 3 BTEC qualifications at Priestley College. There is also an opportunity to request a third placement at the end of the course to work with KS5 students.
